4 augustus 2022 – It seems a matter of time before Ajax strengthens itself with right back Jorge Sánchez. The 24-year-old Mexican himself has already agreed with his intended new club on a contract until mid-2027 and negotiations with his current club Club América are also in full swing. The latest development is that Ajax has received a counter-proposal from Mexico.
De Telegraaf reported this on Wednesday evening. Negotiations are currently still about the transfer fee, although supply and demand are fairly close. Club América is willing to let Sanchez realize his European dream, but wants to receive enough money to be able to get a replacement. The newspaper predicted that the transfer fee will be between five and six million euros, plus a resale percentage.

Ajax sees the much-needed reinforcement in the right-back position in the 21-time international. After Noussair Mazraoui’s transfer-free departure to Bayern Munich, Devyne Rensch and Sean Klaiber are the only two remaining options in that spot. The latter is also linked to a return to FC Utrecht. It therefore seems that Sánchez can immediately expect a basic place at Ajax.

Sánchez would become Ajax’s sixth and cheapest purchase of this summer together with Francisco Coneceição (five million euros). Tens of millions of euros have already been deposited for the arrival of Steven Bergwijn (31.25 million), Calvin Bassey (23 million), Brian Brobbey (16.35 million) and Owen Wijndal (ten million).
