After leaving Arsenal, Bernd Leno: It feels great!

After losing the competition, Leno finally had to find a new port this season.

Fulham have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Bernd Leno from Arsenal, on an initial three-year contract.

Leno has long been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium this summer after losing out to Aaron Ramsdale.

The Cottagers have been looking for a top goalkeeper for a long time, having previously been linked with names such as Alphonse Areola and Neto.

The Premier League-promoted side have now got a fresh face in Leno, who has made nine appearances for the German national team.

Leno arrived signed on a contract until 2025, although Fulham have the option to extend that term for another year.

Fulham bought Leno for just £3m, but that could potentially increase to £8m – if some points are met.

“It feels great to finally be here,” said Leno. “I can’t wait to join the team, to train and play with the team.”

“I’m relieved that it’s all over. I’m just happy to be here. It took a bit of time but in the end we made it, and that’s the most important thing.”

Fulham transfer chief Tony Khan added: “Bernd Leno is a goalkeeper we have pursued diligently throughout this transfer window, and we are very pleased that we have reached a transfer agreement and he is now fully committed to Fulham!

“He has played at the highest level, and he will bring this experience and leadership of his to our team. He will be a great addition to Marco’s squad, who are all excited for next season! Come on Fulham!”
