after a long soap opera, Renato Sanches (finally) to PSG

L’Équipe announces that Paris and Lille have reached an agreement for the transfer of the 24-year-old Portuguese.

Renato Sanches in Paris, it’s done. The Team announces, late this Tuesday evening, that PSG and Lille have reached an agreement for €15m for the transfer of the 24-year-old Portuguese international midfielder (32 caps, 3 goals). One year from the end of his contract, the person concerned had already been announced leaving by President Létang. It remained to know its point of fall. Sanches quickly emerged as a prime target for Luis Campos and Christophe Galtier, two men who know him well. And for good reason, the capital club’s new football advisor recruited him from Lille three years ago, when the second trained him there for two seasons, from 2019 to 2021. Renato Sanches notably participated in the conquest of the title of champion of France in 2021 under the orders of “Galette”, in front of … PSG.

Parisian and Lille leaders, however, took a long time to agree. Moreover, some sources specify that the two clubs are only “relativeswith a chord. So much so that we once thought that AC Milan, on the spot for a long time, would finally win the day. And this despite the stated desire of the former Bayern Munich (2016-19) to join PSG. Finally, no bad surprise for Luis Campos, as in the Gianluca Scamacca case, the Italian striker having signed for West Ham. The team specifies that Milan offered 16 M€ to Losc, who refused the ideas of loan with option of purchase of Paris Saint-Germain.

Talented… but fragile

After Vitinha (Porto), Hugo Ekitike (Reims) and Nordi Mukiele (Leipzig), Renato Sanches will therefore become the fourth recruit of a PSG more than ever with a Lusitanian accent. In Paris, the native of Lisbon will indeed find his compatriots Danilo Pereira, Nuno Mendes and therefore Vitinha, he who very early left the nest of Benfica, his training club, for a transfer to 35 M€ in Bayern in 2016, year when from which he received the title of “Golden Boy” (best player under 21 in Europe). Alas, injuries have slowed his progress. He went on loan to Swansea in 2017, for one year, before being transferred to Lille in 2019. 90 matches, 6 goals and 10 assists in the North for this talented and fragile midfielder who will bring a new string to the Arc de Galtier in the midfield.
