Aaron Ramsey’s curse strikes again

Aaron Ramsey scored his first Ligue 1 goal on Sunday in a Nice jersey. The following day, “Grease” star Olivia Newton-John died. Why mention here these two events which have absolutely no connection between them? Because it adds one more line to the macabre curse that pursues the Welsh striker…

A legend says that with each goal of Ramsey, a public figure dies in the days that follow. A bad omen that has lasted for more than ten years with around twenty famous “victims” recorded, out of the approximately 90 goals he has scored in his career.

In 2011, Osama Bin Laden, Steve Jobs and Muammar Gaddafi died the day after or two days after a Ramsey achievement. Whitney Houston (2012), Paul Walker (2013) and Robin Williams (2014) are added to the list. We can still mention David Bowie, actor Alan Rickman and former First Lady of the United States Nancy Reagan in 2016, singer Chester Bennington and former James Bond actor Roger Moore in 2017, rapper Mac Miller in 2018 or Luke Perry in 2019.

There are many examples to support this urban legend and the death of Olivia Newton-John on Monday, the day after a goal by Ramsey, is one more, unfortunately.
