Curtain on the 2022 African U18 basketball championship. The Pharaohs of Egypt are crowned among boys, and the Aiglonnes of Mali among girls. The Malagasy teams did not deserve.

The Ankoays of Madagascar have made a whole country dream by achieving a course that has exceeded all expectations, both for boys and girls.

If the girls finished in a good fourth place despite the presence of great basketball nations, the boys grabbed a magnificent second place, after notably beating the Malian double title holders in the semi-finals.

Individually, two Madagascans stood out. Among the girls, Marion Fitia Rasolofoson is in the top 5 of the tournament’s best players, compiled by FIBA. She finished the competition averaging 11 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.

On the boys’ side, Mathias M’Madi was named the tournament’s best player (MVP) by FIBA. A tournament that he completes with a nice and solid line of statistics since he is the best scorer (20.8 PPM), the best passer (5 PdPM) and the 3rd best interceptor (2.5 InPM). The young Malagasy international is also in the 5 Major of the tournament, compiled by FIBA.
