Il Italian Committee Referees Sicily announced the referees lists for the 2022-’23 season. 39 whistles will be used in men’s Serie C and Serie B, with 9 rookies; 31 for the women’s Serie D and Serie C, again with 9 promotions from the free-to-participate championships.
Eight from Messina among the men’s Serie C referees
They will make their debut in the highest regional tournaments: Nicolò Campanella, Federico Catalano, Damiano Cavallaro, Andrea Crisafulli, Federico Salvatore Oliveri, Mirko Piacentino, Paolo Rosario Pulvirenti and the people of Messina Giuseppe Ferrara e Federico Randazzo. It will be the first time in the following category for Simone D’Angelo, Giovanni Di Stefano, Samuele Giovanni Fernandez, Mario Giunta, Fabrizio La Spina, Chiara Occhipinti, Ilenia Raniolo, Irene Maria Rescifina, Renato Ata Sahin.
“It will be an important season to check the progress of our referees and table officials – says the president of the CIA Sicily, Andrea Federico Castorina –. In the lists we will have 70 referees representing the Sicilian movement, with several young people who will have the opportunity to grow. I trust in the collaboration of the clubs for a season that will be a restart point for our sector, in view of the reform of the championships. It will take time and patience. The results will come if we know how to work as a team, all the professionals, with a minimum common denominator: the growth of the Sicilian referee movement ».
