13 medals for Latvia at the European Championship for youth in 100 square checkers – Other sports – Sportacentrs.com

At first, from August 1 to 7, the championship was held with classical time control and our young people won four gold and one silver medal. In continuation, on August 8, the championship took place in rapid (rapid) checkers, where Latvian youth won 4 medals – one gold, two silver and one bronze.

In the U10 group for girls, Alice Misāne repeated her success in the classic and with the won 16 points out of 18 possible, she also became the champion in the rapid. In the U10 group for boys, Maksim Novitkis won the silver medal with 11 points out of 16 possible, and Artemijs Bogdanovs won the third place in this group with 10 points. On the other hand, in the U13 age group for boys, with 15 points out of 18 possible, Pēteris Kripans received the silver award.

On the other hand, on August 9, the championship took place in the fast game, where Latvian youth also won 4 identical medals – one gold, two silver and one bronze award. In the U10 group for boys, Maksims Novitkis had an excellent tournament, who won 18 points out of 22 possible and became the European champion, while Arvo Krebe won the bronze award in this group with 16 points. In the U10 group for girls, Alisa Misānei won the title of vice-champion with 16 points out of 18 possible. The title of vice-champion with the obtained 15 points out of 18 possible in the U13 group for boys also goes to Pēteris Kripan.

In total, 131 players from 12 countries participated in the championship.
