12th place for Jonas in the Finnish Grand Prix; Gajser becomes a five-time world champion / Day

Meanwhile, Slovenian Tim Gajser secured his fifth championship two rounds before the end of the season. He has four titles in the MXGP class and one in the MX2 class.

“Husqvarna” factory team driver Jonas settled for 25th place in qualifying on Saturday, but on Sunday after the start he settled at the end of the second ten in the first race. During the following race, he gained several positions and finished in 13th place.

Meanwhile, the victory was celebrated by the Latvian’s teammate Brian Bogers from the Netherlands, the second was his compatriot Glen Koldenhoff, and the third was the French Maxim Renault. Behind the top three were the Swiss Jeremy Sievers and the Frenchman Romain Fevres, who experienced falls, who in the end overtook Gajser.

The start of the second race was more successful for Jonas and the Latvian was immediately behind the top ten. The “Husqvarna” motorcyclist moved up to the eighth place, but lost a couple of positions in the course of the race and finished tenth.

The leading position after the start was taken by Koldenhoff, who was overtaken by Favre a few minutes later. Coldenhoff celebrated the win and was followed by Seaver and Renault. Seventh place was enough for Gajser to secure the title.

Coldenhoff won the stage with 47 points, while Seaver, Reno and Bogers were in second to fourth position with 40 points, respectively. Jonas scored 19 points and was in 12th position.

In the overall standings after 16 stages, Slovenian Gajsers is the undisputed leader with 674 points, Siever has 570 points, and Koldenhoff is in third place with 525 points. Jonas has reached 325 points and occupies the ninth position.

This season, the world championship has 18 rounds.
