Youth award for Richard de Jong

AMERSFOORT On Saturday 2 July, 23-year-old Richard de Jong received the Youth Award from the Municipality of Amersfoort from Mayor Lucas Bolsius. He received the tribute during the annual volunteer meeting of the badminton association for his great commitment and involvement for Badminton Amersfoort Noord (BAN).

De Jong has been a member of BAN since 2012. During his education at the MBO sports college ROC Midden Nederland, he became an assistant trainer at various junior training groups and did an internship at BAN. At the moment he is following a HBO sports education at the Calo in Zwolle.

He grew as a badminton trainer and is now the permanent trainer for both the Tuesday and Thursday BAN junior groups and he also guides these teams during the competition matches. He knows how to transfer the fun and technical skills to young players in an enthusiastic and expert way. He is a mainstay for the assistant coaches. He is a member of the BAN trainers committee.

De Jong is also a member of the BAN activities committee. In this capacity, he helps organize and run tournaments, including the Blacklight Tournament, Club Championships and Recreational Tournaments. Richard is greatly appreciated as a trainer and sporting competition player. This makes him a great example for many other young athletes.
