21-year-old Simona Waltert is in the quarter-finals after a 3-set win over Cristina Bucsa (ESP) in French-speaking Switzerland.
After her exploit against Danielle Collins, number 7 in the world rankings, Simona Waltert (WTA 154) continued her triumphant march at the home tournament in Lausanne. The 21-year-old defeated Cristina Bucsa (WTA 126) from Spain in the second round in 2:05 hours 6:1, 5:7, 6:4 and is in a quarterfinal for the first time at this level.

Waltert, who will be at the start on Lake Geneva thanks to a wildcard, was really inspired by her coup on Tuesday and only conceded one game to her opponent in the first round. In the second round, the Grisons suddenly couldn’t put one foot in front of the other and quickly fell behind by 0:3.
After the false start, Waltert fought back successfully and was even in the lead 5:4 at one point, but had to cope with the set equalization a little later.
