World Cup 2022: non-vaccinated will have to undergo a five-day quarantine when arriving in Qatar

Players at the 2022 World Cup (November 21-December 18) who are not fully vaccinated against Covid-19 will have to respect a five-day quarantine in Qatar, according to the British newspaper the Telegraph. “All participants should follow travel advice from Qatari authorities and the latest guidelines from the Ministry of Public Health. Full information on Covid-19 security measures will be communicated closer to the competition,” confirms FIFA to the newspaper.

According to the newspaper’s sources, players and staff members will not be able to derogate from the legislation in force in the face of the coronavirus pandemic. If these restrictive measures do not change, a quarantine of five days must be observed by anyone who is not vaccinated and who has not been recently infected. This measure will also be valid for the supporters. Thus, those who have not received their third dose or who have exceeded a period of nine months after the injection of the second dose will have to present a negative PCR test and confine themselves for five days in a hotel registered by the authorities.

It is not specified whether the footballers concerned will be able to carry out their quarantine in the base camp of their respective selection. For people who can attest to a recovery in the previous nine months, quarantine will not be necessary.
