Wimbledon result – July 7, 2022: First final for the Ons Jabeur revelation

The Wimbledon tournament is slowly coming to an end with the finals scheduled for next Sunday in sight. Today, the men’s singles matches did not take place. Only the men’s doubles posters and the women’s singles matches went ahead. Here are the results for July 7, 2022.

The revelation of the Ons Jabeur tournament reaches the women’s final

In the absence of the men’s matches, the men’s doubles matches and the women’s singles semi-finals were the only matches to follow that day. The first semi-final of the tournament for the ladies offered a rather unprecedented poster. The world number 2 Ons Jabeur was opposed this morning to the German Maria Tatjana. Ranked 103 in the WTA rank, Maria clearly had no chance of passing unless a miracle. And she believed in it until the last exchange on the court. But the difference in level between the two players was significant.

The hoped-for miracle did not take place. The German bows logically to her opponent. Ons Jabeur won by winning the first and final set of the game. Maria Tatjana still managed to snatch the second set (6-2, 3-6, 6-1). Upon arrival, the Tunisian won her ticket to the final, a first for an African player at Wimbledon.
