Wimbledon – Joran Vliegen eliminated in the second round of the men’s doubles

(Belga) Joran Vliegen (ATP 56 in doubles) saw his career come to an end in the second round of the men’s doubles, Saturday at Wimbledon. The 28-year-old from Limburg and his partner the American Jackson Withrow (ATP 79 in doubles) were beaten on the London lawn by the Australians Matthew Ebden (ATP 31 in doubles) and Max Purcell (ATP 34 in doubles), seeded N.14, in five sets: 6-4, 6-7 (2/7), 4-6, 7-6 (7/3) and 6-4 after 3h29 of the match.

The Australians will meet for a place in the quarter-finals the 3rd seed awarded to the Dutchman Wesley Koolhof (ATP 7) and the Briton Neal Skupski (ATP 8). Sander Gillé, regular partner of Joran Vliegen, is injured in the abdominals. He was forced to withdraw for this 3rd lifting of the Grand Slam of tennis. The Belgian Davis Cup pair never made it past the second round at Wimbledon (2019) and were knocked out in the first round last year. (Belga)
