Wimbledon: Djokovic confidently moves into the round of 16

Wimbledon

The 20-time Grand Slam tournament winner Novak Djokovic continues to live up to his role as favorite at the classic lawn in Wimbledon and has easily reached the round of 16. The Serb seeded number one defeated his compatriot Miomir Kecmanovic 6:0 6:3 6:4 in 1:52 hours on Friday and now meets Tim van Rijthoven.

The 25-year-old Dutchman only came into the main draw with a wild card and prevailed in the third round against Nikolos Basilashvili from Georgia 6:4 6:3 6:4. Van Rijthoven had already won the pre-season tournament in Hertogenbosch and is unbeaten in eight games on grass.

Djokovic is aiming for his seventh Wimbledon title. He is number one in the world rankings because Daniil Medvedev is missing after the exclusion of Russian players because of the war of aggression in Ukraine, as is the injured German Alexander Zverev.
