Where will the 2022 Commonwealth Games be held? Full list of locations, from Birmingham to London

The Commonwealth Games are here, bringing together more than 5,000 athletes around the world and thousands of spectators as well.

It kicked off in Birmingham on Thursday evening and will run until Monday 8 August.

Birmingham hosts the majority of events, making it the seventh city in the UK to host the games. Some of the events will also take place in the West Midlands and Greater London.

Stadio Alexander: The opening ceremony took place here, and this is where the closing ceremony will take place. The stadium will hold 18,000 spectators and will be the venue for the main athletics events from Tuesday 2 August to Sunday 7 August.

Arena Birmingham: The gymnastic events have already started, and this arena will host the artistic and rhythmic events. A maximum of 15,800 people can watch the games there.

Edgbaston Cricket Ground: Where people can go to watch women’s T20 cricket.

Smithfield Arena: 3 x 3 beach volleyball and basketball games will be shown here and the arena can accommodate 2,500 and 4,000 people respectively.

Sutton Park: The triathlon will take place, as it has an outdoor pool, park and surrounding local roads making it ideal for swimming, cycling and running.

Birmingham University: The university’s hockey and squash courts will be held here.

Victory Square: The square will be the official arrival of the marathon events.

Cannock Chase foresta: The forest, north of Birmingham, will host the mountain bike event. It is a popular destination in the area for those who love cycling.

Coventry Stadium and Arena: Seven-a-side rugby, judo and wrestling will be held in this stadium, which seats over 32,000 people.

Vittoria Park: At Leamington Spa, Victoria Park will hold the lawn bowling event, where up to 5,000 fans per day will watch the action on five bowling alleys.

Sandwell Aquatic Center: This center is the only brand new place for games. It will show the swimming and diving events with 4,000 temporary seats available to do so. After the games, the venue will become a community facility in the summer of 2023.

National Exhibition Center: Located in Solihull, this venue is for weightlifting, para powerlifting, ping pong, para ping pong, boxing and badminton events.

NEC Arena: Also in Solihull, this will be the site of the Netball tournament. It is usually an entertainment venue, where musicians, dancers and comedians perform.

Mythonic Fields: In Warwick, this is the site of the road cycling race – this event has been played at every Games since 1938.

West Park: Where the cycling time trial will be held. It is a 43 acre park located at the northwestern end of Wolverhampton city center.

Greater London

Lee Valley VeloPark: In Stratford, East London, this venue hosts the track cycling event. That event started on Friday and the Scottish team took home the gold medal.
