The tournament in Newport, USA, will be played on grass, a surface on which Van Rijthoven has performed excellently this season. He had his big breakthrough by winning the Libéma Open in Rosmalen last month.
At Wimbledon, the Brabander who had been admitted with a wild card then made it through to the fourth round. He was defeated on Sunday after four sets by defending champion Novak Djokovic.
