Unrecognizable Club Brugge suffers painful defeat in Eupen | Jupiler Pro League 2022/2023

After the first half at Kehrweg, supporters of Club Brugge on social media wondered if they were watching a replay of the game against Racing Genk last week. Club Brugge gave away chance after chance in Eupen. And unlike against Genk, that lasted not 45 minutes on Sunday afternoon, but 70 minutes.

Eupen delivered a four-star performance on commitment and with a lot of movement. It could only be better by using his chances more efficiently.

Less than 60 seconds had passed when Nsoki incomprehensibly failed to see Magnée in his back. Mignolet had no chance against the header from close range.

Club Brugge initially seemed to recover quickly thanks to a blunder by goalkeeper Nurudeen, who went under the ball monumentally at a corner. Jutgla headed in alertly, but that was no sign of a turnaround.

Time and again Eupen found space in the back of the Bruges defence. Deom, Nuhu, Peeters and Prevljak could all take their chances in the penalty area. Mignolet was angry at what was going on in front of him, but that made no impression either. The result was that Prevljak was able to make the 2-1 with a kind of punt.

Against Genk, the break resulted in a turnaround. Against Eupen nothing could be done. Not the break, Eupen was the only team to continue to force opportunities. Not a red card for Magnée. Club lacked everything: creativity, eagerness, dueling power and accuracy. Substitutes Mbamba, Sowah and Larin will not have scored any points either.
