Tabea Mecklenburg wins the bronze medal
At the U18 European Championship, Tabea Mecklenburg (class 11/S) were able to impress in the weight class up to 48 kg. Tabea won the first and only medal for the German Judo Federation (DJB).
She started with two wins to open in her pool. To win the pool, Tabea had to admit defeat to the later European champion from Sweden, Tara Babulfath. In the consolation round, the young sports student from UJKC Potsdam was able to motivate herself again and with two victories over Yuliia Shtefaniak from the Ukraine and Alessandra Rocco (Italy) she reached the fight for the bronze medal.
A top ten athlete was waiting here with Wiktoria Slazok from Poland. Four weeks ago she lost at the European Cup in Bielsko Biela in the fight for a place in the final. But this time the plan worked out for her and her trainer Axel Kirchner. Tabea was able to gain a superiority in regular fighting time and deservedly won in the end. This bronze medal is the reward for Tabea’s continuous work!
Congratulations!
