The plenary of Monzón, unanimously, has approved in an extraordinary session, held this Thursday, to make available to the Ministry of Education the land, recently acquired by the Corporation, for the construction of the second Public Institute in the city.
This agreement will be transferred immediately to the DGA so that it can start, as soon as possible, the procedures to order the drafting of the project and its subsequent bidding. From the City Council, it was stated that this infrastructure be included in the next Educational Infrastructure Plan of Aragon.
The plot that is made available to the Government of Aragon has an area of 15,000m2 and meets all the necessary conditions to accommodate the new educational infrastructure. The City Council has disbursed €225,000 in their acquisition.

The Statute of Autonomy of Aragon, approved by Organic Law 5/2007, of April 20, on the Reform of the Statute of Autonomy of Aragon, establishes in article 73 that the Autonomous Community of Aragon has shared competence in teaching in all its extension, levels, grades, modalities and specialties, which, in any case, includes the organization of the teaching sector and teaching and educational activity, as well as the quality of the educational system, as stated in the Plan for Educational Infrastructures of Aragon 2016-2020.
In accordance with the previous competence title, within the Administration of the Autonomous Community, by virtue of the provisions of Decree 314/2015, of December 15, of the Government of Aragon, which approves the organic structure of the Department of Education, Culture and Sport, corresponds to said Department the programming and planning of investments in equipment and infrastructure of public non-university education centers dependent on the Autonomous Community of Aragon.
Article 7 of the aforementioned Decree 314/2015 establishes that under the immediate direction of the Technical Secretary General, they correspond to the Infrastructure and Equipment Management of the Department; the direct execution of centralized investments related to infrastructure and equipment; the coordination, monitoring and control of the budget execution of the allocations for investments in infrastructures and equipment of the Department, the management of the homologation of educational equipment, including school buildings, and information technologies.
