Turkey highlighted Yasmani Copello’s result in Mediterranean Games

After winning the gold medal in the 400 meter hurdles during the Algeria 2022 Mediterranean Games, the result achieved by the Turkish nationalized Cuban, Yasmani Copellowas recognized by the Ministry of Sports of that country, after breaking the record in those fairs.

At the end of the Mediterranean Games, in its 19th edition, the Turkish Ministry of Sports General Directorate of Sports Services Copello’s performance stood out on Twitter, achieving a record of 48.27 seconds, a record in these events.

Turkey closed the Mediterranean Games in second place in the general table for medals, after accumulating 45 gold, 26 silver, 37 bronze. Thus, Turkey finished the organization in second place for the third time after 1963, in Naples, and 2013, in Mersin, according to what was specified by TRT.

Regarding the result, the president of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, referred to the result of the entourage of that nation, which includes the athlete born in the largest of the Antilles. “I congratulate our national athletes who achieved historic success by winning a total of 108 medals, of which 45 are gold, 26 silver and 37 bronze, at the XIX Mediterranean Games.”

Also in the Mediterranean Games, Yasmani Copello won the bronze medal as part of the 4×400 relay with İsmail Nezir, Oğuzhan Kaya, Sinan Ören, with a time of 3:04.55.

A few days ago, in Doha, Copello finished in sixth place in the 400m hurdles during the first stop of the Wanda Athletics Diamond League, held in the Qatari capital. With a time of 50.30 seconds.

Yasmani Copello got the third place in the event under the five rings held in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and, since then, she has been preparing to touch the glory with a golden metal, since she has a world silver. In Tokyo he came sixth during the final, recognized for having been the fastest in the history of this modality.
