As team captain, Šit led the Latvian U17 national team to the Baltic Cup trophy at the end of the summer of 2020. Agents from Italy appreciated the playing skills of the then 16-year-old talent and made an offer. Dario had already proven himself before Matt in the youth teams, but he was noticed abroad precisely because of his performance in the Latvian national teams of his age. A month after the triumph in the Baltic Cup, Shit officially became Parma Calcio 1913 system footballer, but last summer he signed the first professional contract of his career with this club until 2024. Other famous Italian teams were also interested in Šita Napoli, Bologna and SPAL of Ferrara. Dario chose Parmu, because this club was ready to take him without showing up, and it coincided with the time of the pandemic, when showing up was troublesome. The conditions of the club confirmed that the Latvian is being counted on, which gave rise to confidence in taking this decisive step. When the attacker arrived in Parma academy, its first team still played in Italy’s strongest league, Serie A, but ended the season in last place and relegated to Serie B. With ambitions to return to the elite, which will have to be postponed at least until the next season, because this was an unsuccessful year for the team, remaining only in 12th place. Such an outcome was painful because Parma Italy’s Serie B has the biggest budget.
