Tour de France: Dylan Groenewegen wins the third stage in the sprint, Van Aert remains in yellow

The scenario for this third, and final stage, in Denmark was unsurprising. In front of a crowd still present, the outcome of this route between Vejle and Sonderborg (202.2 km) was settled in a sprint. And finally, it was Dylan Groenewegen (Team BikeExchange-Jayco) who won ahead of Wout van Aert (Jumbo-Visma) and Jasper Phillipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck).

While the race seemed to be between the Belgian and Peter Sagan, the Dutchman slipped between the riders and won this stage at the finish. He thus recorded his fifth victory in the Tour de France. For his part, Wout van Aert, still second (for the 3rd time in 3 stages), keeps his yellow jersey.

Magnus Cort Nielsen hero in his country

Definitely, the one who explained “living a dream” on this Grande Boucle is not about to wake up. Dressed in the polka dot jersey, the Dane (EF Education-EasyPost) attacked at kilometer zero to have a chance to keep his best climber’s tunic. In front of an audience committed to his cause, Magnus Cort Nielsen was a hit by taking first place in the three climbs of the day, the climbs of Koldingvej, Hejlsminde Strand and Genner Strand.

He was then caught by the peloton 51 km from the finish. He nevertheless keeps the polka dot jersey and remains the first Danish rider to offer himself this privilege since Michael Morkov in 2012.
