The Danish Jonas Vingegaard kept the yellow jersey as leader of the overall classification of the Tour at the end of the 16th stage. At the start, however, Aurélien Paret-Peintre and Mikael Cherel, both of AG2R-Citroen, did not show up, excluded as positive for Covid and with a viral load too high to continue the Grande Boucle.
