These are the difference between karate and TKD

Taekwondo and karate are two mixed martial arts that are assimilated a lot in their practice, but in reality there are very different rules for the practice of this sport.

Taekwondo and karate have several similarities, the first and foremost being that they are martial arts that are specialize in the fist and the kick or as some athletes prefer to call it, “exchange of force”.

It is clear that in Taekwondo it is a martial art that pays more attention to kicks and movements related to them while karate encompasses a much broader series of techniques and movements, such as judo-style projections, blows to different parts of the body and self defense techniques.

The term taekwondo translates as “the art of the feet and the fist” and the term karate translates as “empty hands”.

Karate has a different origin than Taekwondo, since it was formed in its beginnings in China. Instead, Korea is the country of origin of Taekwondo. The word karate is obtained from the combination of two words, kanji and te. Kanji means empty, while te refers to the hands.

Karate is also known as Karate-Do. Taekwondo is also popular as Taekwon-Do, Tae Kwon-Do, and Tae Kwon Do.
