The Dutchwoman scored a double blow during the second stage of the Tour de France Women in Provins on Monday.
Marianne Vos untouchable. In the final climb of the second stage of the Tour de France Women, in Provins, the Dutchwoman showed off her “jump” and her sense of racing to easily win the bet. Imperial, the cyclo-cross world champion at the same time seizes the overall leader’s yellow jersey. She thus takes her revenge and steals the yellow jersey from the German Lorena Wiebes (Team DSM), who had beaten her the day before on the Champs-Elysées.
A new victory for the successful runner (35 years old, 241 victories now) but also and above all for… the Jumbo-Visma, whose ranks she joined at the start of last year. The Dutch team, titled on Sunday with Jonas Vingegaard, continues its harvest among men and therefore women.
Cavalli falls and loses ground
Note that this second stage was marked by a succession of violent falls. The Italian of Groupama-FDJ-Suez Marta Cavalli, candidate for the final victory, was notably involved before getting back in the saddle. But it now shows a disbursement of nearly two minutes.
