The Montpellier Police Leisure Center arrives at Villeneuve-lès-Maguelone beach

The police recreation center, which welcomes young people from La Paillade all year round, has been transformed into a nautical base for the summer. Until the start of the school year, activity leaders welcome 9-17 year olds at Villeneuve-lès-Maguelone beach.

Archery, racket games, volleyball… There is no shortage of activities at the nautical base of the Montpellier police youth leisure center (CLJ). As in previous years, the association which receives young people from 9 to 17 years old, settled on the beach of Villeneuve-lès-Maguelone, this Friday, July 8. Last year, they were 1149, mainly from the Paillade district, to have been able to take advantage of it.

From canoeing to paddle, what to do this summer

The favorite occupations of the young people of this first day? “Canoe” for Elyas, 17 years old. “Volleyball” for Sara, 10 years old. “Paddle” for Zakaria, 14 years old. And the latter is a regular on this program. “I’ve been coming since I was little, since I was six I think, he says. Here, we enjoy ourselves!”

This enthusiasm, Ludovic also shares it. “We get on well with the young people and there is a lot of respect for the supervisors,” explains the CLJ educator. All year round, it welcomes young people on Wednesdays and Saturdays as well as on holidays, in addition to interventions in schools. He has been involved in relocation for nearly 20 years.

Hérault sport as reinforcement

For the summer, animators from Hérault sport, a departmental organization, come “in reinforcement” to help the CLJ police officers. “This is the high point of an annual collaboration”, explains Dimitri, project manager of the device within the organization. The center is open Monday to Friday upon registration and bus transport to the beach is provided by TaM.
