The new law imposes for an entity a maximum of eight assignments over the age of 21, three to the same destination. This can become a stepping stone to City’s shoe, which features a wide range of footballers to distribute among the clubs that are part of the City Fooball Group conglomerate. This fact does not completely break with the total number of assignments, but with the typology of these assignments. From the outset, Girona has insisted on the idea of incorporating players with a more defined role and experience in the First Division. Because the change of scenery is greedy enough to leave behind the experiments that have led to the loans of recent times, with more shadows than lights.
Generally, they have landed talents that didn’t explode until after a while, when they no longer wore the white-and-red shirt. We must not forget that, for the City, these operations are also a business. Like any other company, it wants to make a profit, whether through sports or through sponsorships. And Girona has become a test bed: inexperienced diamonds are given away that have yet to be polished and Montilivi is where they are allowed to go wrong. At the beginning of the relationship between City and Girona, there was even another way: to sign a footballer for the group that Montilivi liked, because in Girona the operation could not be taken on, and to leave him on loan. Of the casualties that have been confirmed, three are those transferred this year by the City: Sarmiento, Moreno and Bustos. Only the Argentine has worked, after repeating experience.
