Now that the Covid seems to leave the possibility of organizing events, the Cannes Esport association is relaunching its summer activity which has been very successful with young people aged 9 to 16 in recent years.
the 6e edition of the Fortnite Trip will take place from August 22 to 24 and will feature the main lines of the successful event. A stay in the form of a refresher course in the successful video game Fortnite (1) with a tournament at stake, the winner of which will leave with a card prize of 200 euros. As usual, the practice of video games will not be at the center of the stay since an orienteering course at the Royal Fort, an archery challenge, a visit to the Iron Mask museum and a session of snorkeling between the islands but also table tennis tournament, werewolf game and blindtest are part of the program.
A balance to which Haïkel Rezgui is very attached.
Create social ties and break isolation
The founder of the Cannes Esport association recalled that the objective was to fight against a sedentary lifestyle. “We observe that the number of players is increasing while the number of licensees in sports and cultural associations is decreasing. This activity of esport is underestimated because people do not see how it can fit into society. its place insofar as there is awareness of addictions and the energy-consuming sides of consoles and equipment. Our desire remains to create social ties between gamers at the local level and show that video games do not lead to isolation.”
Several hybrid stays planned
The young Cannes association has also worked on new stays combining video games and sports. After a successful animation during the last Cannes Games Festival, the Cannes Esport association is working on a stay around the game Mario Kart. A stay which, in addition to the tournament around this famous racing game, will take participants on a karting circuit.
Another hybrid stay is in preparation. This time around the FIFA video game, accompanied by a Futsal tournament (a discipline close to football, played 5 against 5 in a room).
