After the coup against Carlos Alcaraz, the test par excellence is on the program for Jannik Sinner. On Tuesday, the South Tyrolean will meet Novak Djokovic in the quarter-finals – the best grass court player of recent years at Wimbledon.

Djokovic and Wimbledon, that fits. The Serb has already triumphed six times on the Holy Ground in England. Djokovic has won five of the last seven tournaments. And by the way, he has been unbeaten in Wimbledon for 25 matches. Numbers and statistics that hardly bode well for Jannik Sinner – or do they?

The game begins on Tuesday at 2.30 p.m. on Center Court in Wimbledon. Sinner goes into the game as an outsider, especially since Djokovic has won the only duel so far 6: 4, 6: 2. At that time, however, the game was not played on grass, but on sand in Monte Carlo.

The Pusterer was not previously considered a grass field specialist and on June 27 of this year he achieved his first ever professional victory on grass (against Stan Wawrinka). But in the meantime the 20-year-old from Sexten seems to have found this surface much more appealing. It’s just a shame that no ATP points will be awarded at Wimbledon this year.
