the citizens of Edmundston invited to speak

The development of a development plan for Parc du Petit-Sault, located in downtown Edmundston, moved to another stage recently when citizens were asked to comment on the project. .

It was through a survey that the City of Edmundston asked its residents to give their opinion on the facilities and activities in place, in addition to suggesting new ideas that could be used to improve the public park.

According to the Municipality, Parc du Petit-Sault is one of the most important green spaces in the community.

It contains several important infrastructures including: the Lions swimming pool, play modules for children, the Bill-Turgeon Stadium, the Place des artisans, the Bernard-Valcourt pedestrian bridge, a walking path, the Fortin du Petit-Sault, the park canin, the Boisé des Baraques, public washrooms and more.

A skateboard park will be added to the facilities next year.

The mayor of Edmundston, Éric Marquis, had, relatively speaking, compared the Parc du Petit-Sault to Central Park in New York, since it is the one most often associated with the city.

He had also mentioned, during a previous interview, that the Petit-Sault Park revitalization project was going to be carried out gradually.

It started with the hiring of a firm of experts in landscaping and urban planning. A contract worth more than $50,000 was awarded to BC2 Groupe conseil, a few weeks ago.

The results of the study should be unveiled during the fall with a view to preparing the Municipality’s next budget.

The survey is therefore intended to be an additional step in order to involve the population with a view to preparing its development plan.

“Given the popularity of the park and the age of its infrastructure, the Municipality wants to ensure that the various elements of Parc du Petit-Sault continue to meet the needs of the community and thus initiate a process to update the plan. park manager. A short survey has been developed to collect your impressions and comments about Parc du Petit-Sault. This approach is very important for the Municipality, and the responses collected will help develop a long-term vision for the development of the park and its components,” reads a press release from the City.

Note that participation in this short survey is on a voluntary basis and that individual responses will remain confidential.
Only the overall results will be revealed in order to define a vision for the development of our park. People have until July 15 to participate in the Parc du Petit-Sault survey, available on the City of Edmundston’s website.
