Tennis – Tennis: Grand Slam tournaments expand cooperation

LONDON (SID) – They are the four most important tennis tournaments in the world, with the greatest tradition and the highest turnover. On the fringes of the 135th Championships in Wimbledon, the Grand Slam bosses from Melbourne, Paris, London and New York sat down to discuss ways to expand their position. Above all, the joint marketing potential should be better exploited.

New “content” is to be produced, also under the keyword “Web 3.0”, for the makers of the Australian, French and US Open and Wimbledon “an important area with considerable growth for a new generation of fans”. In addition, new products with the logos of all four Grand Slam tournaments should be available in the future.

In the message sent out by the Wimbledon organizers of the All England Club, the bosses of the major events also referred to the Grand Slam scholarships. In the past five years, 116 players have been supported with a total of 3.58 million dollars – including finalist Ons Jabeur from Tunisia.

“That’s one of the reasons why I’m here today, why I win matches,” said the world number two before her final on Saturday (3 p.m. CEST / Sky) against Yelena Rybakina (Kazakhstan). Jabeur became the first player from Africa and the Arab world to reach a Grand Slam final. In the semifinals she defeated the German Tatjana Maria in three sets.
