It’s not really a surprise, Team USA completed its first qualifying phase for the 2023 World Cup with a big success on the Cuba side (64-87). The Americans were still led after 10 minutes (16-14), but their response was not long in coming.
Winners 28-14 of the 2nd quarter, Jim Boylen’s men notably relied on Xavier Munford, a 30-year-old fullback who was playing in the NBL this season, to reverse the trend. Behind the Galloway-Jenkins-Jackson trio, it was he who came out on top with 24 points in 23 minutes at 10/12 shooting.
