Teddy Riner won on Sunday July 10, 2022 when he entered the Grand Slam in Budapest, where he is making his return to international competition a year after the Tokyo Olympics.

Exempted from the first round, Riner beat the modest Brazilian Joao Cesarino, 146th in the world, by ippon after less than two minutes of combat.
He will face the solid Azerbaijani Ushangi Kokauri, 9th in the world rankings, in the quarter-finals.
He has the Paris 2024 Olympics in mind
Riner, 33, had not appeared on the international stage since the Tokyo Olympics last summer. He left Japan with an individual bronze medal and a team title.
He aims at the Paris Olympics, in two years, a third individual Olympic title.
