Stephen Curry and Draymond Green recruited Donte DiVincenzo

When we talk about recruiting in the NBA, we usually stick to stars. LeBron James talks to such a player, Kevin Durant does the same before signing with such a team… Yes, when a player picks up the phone and presses to get such a piece, it is usually linked to a very important movement within the League. This is not the case, and perhaps for this reason it has more value.

Golden State, current NBA champion, has lost guys of the weight of Otto Porter Jr. or Gary Payton II in free agency. Of course, they are not the base of the team, but they are complements that have been key in a rotation of eight players to win the ring. That being the case, replacing them in the best way was important to the Warriors; something that demonstrates the fact of seeing Stephen Curry and Draymond Green getting directly involved in it.

This is how Donte DiVincenzo tells it. The new player of the Californian organization has explained that it was the conversations with both Warriors stars that made him opt for them. He had better financial offers, but they made him understand that his best option was to join the champion team.

“Once I had the conversation with Steph and Draymond, everything changed a little bit for me, as I moved away from numbers and dollars and all that. I was more focused on what’s best for Donte, what’s best for me going forward. With that culture and environment, it’s something I want to be a part of and where I know I fit in. I don’t have to change who I am. I can totally fit in and become a warrior«, expresses in statements collected by Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area.

DiVincenzo eventually signed a two-year, $9.3 million deal with Golden State, the second of which was a player option; that is to say, it is a bet to revalue itself and to be able to obtain a better agreement in a year. Will he get it?
