Argentine striker Fernando ‘Raqueta’ Coniglio was presented this Tuesday, in the Ecuadorian city of Manta, as Delfin’s new reinforcement with a view to the second phase of the League. “We welcome Fernando Coniglio and give him his new jersey (number 9),” said José Delgado, president of Delfin.
The 30-year-old player comes from Colombia’s Independiente Santa Fe, where he played twenty-one games this year, nine as a starter, and scored just two goals. Coniglio was trained in Rosario Central, but stood out in Chacarita Juniors, with eleven goals in nineteen games in 2016.
In that same year he went to Olimpo de Bahía Blanca, where he scored 12 goals in 29 games. He later went through several clubs without excelling as a scorer. ‘Raqueta’ arrives to take the place of Jhon Jairo Cifuente, who recently transferred to Barcelona from Guayaquil.
Delfin, Ecuadorian champion in 2009, is led by Uruguayan Guillermo Sanguinetti. The cetacean team has been reinforced with the Uruguayans Facundo Queiróz, Gonzalo González and Winston Fernández; as well as the Argentine Nicolás Bazanna. On the first date of the second phase of La Liga Pro, played last weekend, Delfin beat the winner of the first stage, Barcelona, 0-1.
