It was an unfortunate weekend for the football teams of Salaspils – the players of the Super League sports club “Super Nova”/Salaspils, the football club “Salaspils” playing in the first league, and two teams of the third league of Latvia experienced losses in the round of 16 of the Latvian Cup. On Monday, Ķekava football club “Auda” will play the battle for entering the quarter-finals against BFC “Daugavpils”.
Both Salaspils clubs could play their round of 16 matches at home, but the home walls did not help either of them. On Saturday, SK “Super Nova”/Salaspils football players competed with “Tukums 2000″/”Telms” football club, which is three positions above the Salaspils team in the league table. The result remained undiscovered until the 52nd minute, but then the team from Tukum managed to score the first goal, and seven minutes before the end, the second goal as well – 0:2.
Football club “Salaspils” fared much worse, which conceded six goals in the first half already in the first half in a match against the second-last place holders of the super league, FK “Metta”, and in the end experienced defeat 0:13.
Several games with the participation of Pierīgas teams were played in the Central group tournament of the third Latvian league. Football players of FC “Olaine” / FC “Union” have become the leaders, who, thanks to the accurate transmissions of Vadim Kuprijanov and Erik Eduard Kalniņš, beat the team of JFK “Daugava” 2:1 in Salaspils. The “Kengaroos” sports club continued the mischief of the local team in Salaspils, which lost 2:4 to the second team of the “Alberts” football school. Sandis Švāns and Vitalijs Chulkovs scored goals for the home team.
The players of “ASK Kadaga” took care of a little surprise, beating the recent leaders of the tournament “Upesciema Warriors” 1:0 at their home ground in Adaži. Dairis Laicāns scored the only goal in the 58th minute.
After eight rounds, the “Olaine”/”Union” team has 17 points and the first place (FK “PPK/Betsafe” has the same number of points), “Upesciema Warriors” is fourth with 14 points, “ASK Kadaga” is sixth with 11 points, JFK “Daugava” is seventh with 7 points, while SK “Kengaroos” is eighth in the 10-team competition with 6 points.
Both teams from Pierīga experienced another loss in the Women’s Football First League tournament. FK “Sigulda” lost 0:5 to the football players of FK “Gulbene”/ZAFC at home, but the RFS/Babīte sports club team, playing with a numerical minority from the 33rd minute, lost to the football school “Jelgava” 0:2
In the eight games so far, both Sigulda and Babīte football players have scored one victory and three points each and occupy the last two places in the table.
