Safety must be the top priority

The security of the Paris-2024 Olympic Games is from the beginning at the heart of our priorities, affirmed this Sunday the president of the Organizing Committee Tony Estanguet, referred to in the Prensa Latina portal.

The statements were offered by the former canoeing athlete and three-time Olympic champion who expressed that it is necessary to keep cool and trust in the experience of those who have the responsibility of guaranteeing security during the summer event under the five rings, the third to be hosted by Paris, after the 1900 and 1924 editions.

However, he admitted that nothing will be of value if one is not up to the challenge, facing the Olympic Games that arouse much expectation, scheduled from July 26 to August 11, while the Paralympics will take place from August 28 to September 8th.

“Since January 2021 we have signed a protocol that distributes responsibilities, with an executive committee on security headed by the international delegate to the games, Michel Cadot, and the first calls to get the 22,000 necessary agents,” he explained.

Estanguet insisted that each step is well analyzed and that there is a commitment to demonstrate France’s ability to organize major events.

A particular challenge will be for the host country to provide security for athletes and the public during the opening ceremony of Paris-2024, marked for the first time outside a stadium, with the emblematic Seine River as the protagonist.
