Real Oviedo draws goalless against Eibar in their second pre-season friendly

A Real Oviedo under construction left positive things in its second pre-season game, the one that drew this afternoon against Eibar in Cayón. Bolo’s team looked good, especially in the first half in which there was more order than in the second, when the carousel of changes made the match more anarchic.

The Blues came out with Braat in goal and with a new line of four compared to the previous season, with Llambrich at right back, a pair of central defenders made up of Luengo and Calvo and Pomares at left back. Precisely Pomares was one of the most outstanding in that first half, very active and helping a lot to flow the attack. The central couple was also comfortable, with the hierarchy that Calvo imposed and without having too much work.

Ahead of the defense were Jimmy and Javi Mier, with a third midfielder who was Hugo Rama, another of Oviedo’s standouts in this match. The attack line was formed by the extreme Sangalli, on the right, and Jirka, on the left, with Obeng as a great offensive reference. The blue striker played many minutes before the absences of Borja Bastón due to physical discomfort and the still too recent arrival of Enrich, who did not participate in the duel.

After a few first minutes of scoring, Oviedo took possession of the ball and their attacks were concentrated on the left wing, where Jirka and Pomares made a good partnership. Hugo Rama, for his part, demonstrated his vision of the game, with long passes with great precision. The first serious setback was for Oviedo with the forced withdrawal of Javi Mier, who felt some discomfort and as a precaution withdrew from the field. In his place, in the 25th minute, came the youth squad Bretones, who occupied the left wing, changing Jirka to the right and Sangalli going on to play inside.

Oviedo continued to dominate the match until the hydration break came, half an hour into the game. Shortly after, Eibar had their chance in the hands of Aketxe, whose shot was safely stopped by Braat. The Blues’ response came in the 40th minute, when Obeng gave a ball on the edge of the area to Hugo Rama and the midfielder’s shot, from a good position, went high.

After the break, Oviedo made four changes: Llambrich, Pomares, Braat and Sangalli left, and Lucas, Osky, Nadal and Viti came on. Eibar also made a lot of changes and the game faded a bit, although Oviedo got back on track quickly and pressed on, chaining two good chances: first Hugo Rama tried it with a shot and, shortly after, Viti had the clearest, but the goalkeeper from Eibar prevented the blue winger from beating him when he had everything in his favour. The Basque team reacted, taking possession of the ball and trying to approach the Oviedo area, without much success.

The changes in the blue team continued, which brought in Javi Moreno, Mangel, Álex Cardero and Lucas Laso, in the 63rd minute, taking out Hugo Rama, Luengo, Jirka and Dani Calvo. An Oviedo full of players from the academy, with a midfielder couple made up of Mangel and Jimmy and central defenders Lucas Laso and Javi Moreno. Eibar tried to take advantage and Tejero tried it with a dangerous long shot. The only remaining players in Oviedo’s starting eleven, Obeng and Jimmy, were substituted in the 69th minute by Jorge Mier and Mario Fuente.

After the second hydration break, a quarter of an hour from the end, Eibar had a good chance, in the 82nd minute, and Oviedo another, in a great play by Viti on the right, which he gave to Lucas. The right-back struck with his left foot inside the area and his shot went high. There was barely time for more in a very positive pre-season test to fit the pieces together at Oviedo. Among the best news for the blues was the performance of a Pomares who was very good on the left side and certain details of Hugo Rama, who also wants to fight for a position in an Oviedo in which they are going to incorporate important players and who will be You will see in the next meetings. The fans await the debut of Enrich and the newcomer, the Mexican Marcelo Flores, who was present at the match.
