Rauno Nurger closes the Acunsa GBC squad

Acunsa Gipuzkoa Basket has closed its squad for the 2022/23 season with the signing of Estonian center Rauno Nurger. The new member of the Gipuzkoan team measures 2.08, weighs 105 kilos and will be 29 years old next November. He was born in Keila, Estonia, has gone through the LEB league, has university education in the United States (Wichita State, like Jaime Echenique) and has played the last few seasons at Kalev Cramo in the Baltic country. He is international with his country. Nurger has played this past season in the Estonian league, with which he reached the semifinals.

Kalev Cramo had a chance to reach the final but squandered a 2-0 lead in the tie with Parnu and lost 3-2. Acunsa Gipuzkoa Basket’s new post, who will share minutes with Mario Delas in the ‘five’ position, has played up to four different competitions this season. And it is that in Estonia the domestic league is played, the VTB with teams from Belarus and Latvia; and the same competition with teams from Russia where Zenit, CSKA, Novgorod among others played. They also took part in the FIBA ​​Champions, a competition that Lenovo Tenerife has won, playing in the group stage against powerful teams such as the Turkish Tofas Bursa, the Belgian Oostende or the French Strasbourg.

With the arrival of Nurger, the Acunsa GBC signs above all a good player, with great rebounding and intimidating capacity. He has experience in continental competition and during his time in the LEB Oro in the ranks of Huesca he left a good memory and also some interesting 13 points and six rebounds, which earned him to sign a year later with Breogán de Lugo. In Galicia, his averages went up to 7 points and 4 rebounds in 24 minutes of play. Rauno Nurger is a player with characteristics similar to those of Delas, so the way he plays will not suffer whether the Croatian or the Estonian is on the court. The last four seasons he has spent at Kalev Cramo in Estonia. This last year he has made nine points and five rebounds in the league of his country, numbers very similar to those he has recorded in other competitions.

With the arrival of this 2.08 tall pivot, the Acunsa Gipuzkoa basketball squad is closed. It may be the season in which the group was created before, and thus lolo Encinas and his assistant Jorge Álvarez will be able to start working with all the players in the last week of August. The base position will have a single Gipuzkoan color with Aitor Zubizarreta, Xabi Oroz and Iñigo de la Hera. In the stolta position, the minutes will be shared by Mikel Motos and Justin Jaworski; the forwards of the team are Adam Sollazzo and Ander Martínez thus closing the inside game.
