Primoz Roglic will no longer start in the Tour today | Tour

Primoz Roglic had been struggling for a while in this Tour after his crash in the cobblestone stage. The Slovenian was clearly not himself and drew his conclusions before the start of stage 15.

“In order to allow my injuries to heal properly, we have decided that I will not start today,” Roglic said. “I am proud of my contribution to our current standings. I am convinced that the team will achieve our yellow and green ambitions.”

It is already the 2nd year in a row that Roglic has been forced to leave the Tour. The three-time Vuelta winner was one of the favorites at the start of the Tour, but the crash on the cobblestones mortgaged his chances of the overall victory. Since then, Roglic had been on the bum with a sore hip and shoulder.

Jumbo-Visma may have hoped that Roglic could still play a role as a luxury helper for leader Jonas Vingegaard in the last Tour week, but a day before the 3rd rest day, the Slovenian is now giving up.
