Pogba injured in the meniscus of the right knee

The improvement will have lasted a long time. Fifteen short days, only, after his official return to Juventus Turin, Paul Pogba is already on the flank. The French world champion was injured, in fact, in the right knee, this Monday in training. The Piedmontese club announced, via a press release, that its midfielder suffered from a lesion of the lateral meniscus of the right knee. He will have to pass new exams to know the duration of his unavailability.

The former Mancunian is already forfeited for the rest of the American tour of the Piedmontese. “After complaining of pain in his right knee, Paul Pogba underwent radiological examinations which revealed a lesion of the lateral meniscus, explained the Turin club. In the next few hours, he will undergo a specialized orthopedic consultation. Therefore, in order to continue his treatment, he does not participate in the trip to Dallas (Editor’s note: where Juventus must face FC Barcelona in a friendly match on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday). The resumption of Serie A is scheduled for August 15 against Sassuolo.

Just under four months before the start of the World Cup in Qatar (November 21 – December 18), the staff of the Blues will be very attentive to information from the United States concerning one of the executives of the selection. Pogba had also had to give up the last rally in June. Hit in the calf after less than ten minutes of play on April 19 on the Liverpool side, he did not play again afterwards. Between November 2021 and February 2022, already, the native of Lagny-sur-Marne had spent his time in the infirmary, without playing a single match.

Pogba had made his first appearance with the Bianconeri against Chivas Guadalajara this Saturday in a friendly, playing the first period (2-0). At the end of the contract with Manchester United, the French international (91 caps, 11 goals) has signed up for the next four seasons for the “Old Lady” where he had already played between 2012 and 2016.

This new setback will not fail to revive rumors relating to the alleged physical fragility of a player, now 29 years old, who, in the absence of titles, has collected more or less significant physical glitches during his stay in Manchester. This recurring fragility explains, more or less, his inability to really win with the Red Devils. Four of his six seasons, including the last in Manchester (26 appearances in all competitions), have thus been disrupted, even ruined by a series of stretches, creases, tears and other injuries.
