The break for the Major League Baseball All-Star Game arrived on a Sunday where 24 of the 30 teams took to the field, and among them 29 Venezuelan players had action on the day.
In general it was a discreet day for the Venezuelan litter in the Big Show, although there were some individuals who contributed to the victory of their teams. Among the highlights were homers by David Peralta and Rougned Odor, while Wilson Contreras was responsible for scoring the winning run for the Chicago Cubs.

Wilson Contreras avoids the Mets’ broom
The New York Mets intended to give the Chicago Cubs a broom in their own stadium at Wrigley Field in a four-game series that will be forgotten as far as the Windy City team is concerned.
In another dramatic game decided by one run, the Cubs knew how to come from behind and come back in the late game scoring two runs in the eighth inning against reliever Drew Smith.
In that inning the Venezuelan the Venezuelan catcher Willson Contreras he singled and then stepped on the rubber led by Nico Hoerner’s single, which meant the Cubs went ahead and ultimately won.
This was Contreras’ 48th run scored of the season, important in consummating the 35th success of the North Chicago team.

David Peralta put order in San Diego
Petco Park was the scene of a pitching duel between right-handers Merryl Kelly of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Mike Clevinger of the San Diego Padres, who went zero after zero to the board for five innings.
But at the top of the sixth inning Kelly faced the dark-haired David Peralta and this one broke the cellophane of the scoreboard with a hit from four corners on a cut fastball that sought the intention of closing it, but the left-handed batter quickly took out his arms and made Doña Blanca fly all over the rightfield until falling 387 feet away.
For Peralta, this was his twelfth home run of the season and the 110th of his career in the Majors, which places him in solo 28th place among Venezuelans with the most homers in the best baseball in the world.
The one from Valencia did not have a very productive first half, since he only compiled for .236 AVG, but he has been productive by bringing 38 men to the plate.

Odor hits the wall, but Baltimore loses
The other Venezuelan who took the fences on Sunday was the infielder Rougned Odoralthough his hit did not change the fate of his team, Baltimore Orioles, who were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays 7×5.
In the sixth inning, the orange birds lost by a difference of four, and with a runner on second base, Odor took on the star right-hander Coreyu Kluber.
In a count of two balls and a strike, Kluber tried to score with the fastball cut in the high zone and hit, but the dark-haired man made a compact swing and deposited the ball 377 feet down the rightfield. This was the tenth home run of “El Tipo” in the season and the 171 for life with which he approaches the Top-10 of the maximum home run hitters born in Venezuela.
