Out in two sets – Angelique Kerber fails

With Jule Niemeier and Tatjana Maria, two Germans are already in the round of 16 at Wimbledon. Angelique Kerber wanted to be the third, but failed.

Angelique Kerber was eliminated early from the classic grass field in Wimbledon and, unlike Jule Niemeier and Tatjana Maria, missed the leap into the round of 16 of the tennis tournament.

The 2018 winner lost her third round game on Friday in 80 minutes against Belgian Elise Mertens 4: 6, 5: 7 and was twice unable to use a break advantage in the second set. Last year, Kerber reached the semi-finals. Previously, Niemeier and Maria had reached the round of the top 16 for the first time in a Grand Slam tournament.
