Official: Christophe Galtier takes over from Mauricio Pochettino at PSG | league 1

Galtier’s arrival has been in the pipeline for a while, but today the transition has been finalized. The Frenchman starts his first challenge in Paris as head coach of an absolute top club.

As a player, he had a rather modest career in the French first and second division, as a trainer he left an excellent impression in recent years at Saint-Étienne, Lille and Nice. With Lille, he even won the French title two seasons ago, which hit particularly hard in Paris.

The Lille technical director at the time, Luis Campos, is already in Paris as the successor to the Brazilian Leonardo. For example, the sporting power lies with a relatively inexperienced duo at the highest level in the always turbulent French capital.

The arrival of Galtier also means the farewell to Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentinian PSG guided PSG to the league title again last season – after a year without it, but in the Champions League another disappointment for the Qatari owners followed. PSG was already knocked out by Real Madrid in the eighth finals.

Although Pochettino still had a one-year contract in Paris, it was equally clear that the board did not want to continue with the Argentinian.
