Novak Djokovic asked Stefanos Tsitsipas to react better in the future

Novak Djokovic has warned Stefanos Tsitsipas, telling him he was lucky he was able to escape his fate at the US Open, after he threw a ball at the audience (initially wanting to hit his opponent of the moment, Nick Kyrgios).

The Serb also admitted that some players know how to get inside their opponent’s head. In the 3rd round of Wimbledon, Kyrgios clearly got inside Tsitsipas’ head to claim a 6-7(2), 6-4, 6-3, 7-6(7) win.

After losing the second set, Tsitsipas got frustrated and threw a ball towards Nick Kyrgios, but it went towards the crowd. Fortunately, the ball did not hit anyone and the Greek thus avoided an exclusion.

As we remember, Djokovic was kicked out of his 2020 US Open Round of 16 match after accidentally kicking a linesman. “There are players whose attitude provokes you or irritates you,” Djokovic explained, as reported by Tennis Majors.

“And there are opponents who don’t make you feel that way. It’s an individual sport, and so we’re all different. What’s good and what’s not is relative, because there are different perspectives that we can have concerning everything that happened during the match.”

Djokovic: What happened to me almost happened to Tsitsipas

Novak Djokovic admits he regrets the incident at the US Open, and added that he hopes Tsitsipas will learn from this incident at Wimbledon and react better next time.

“What happened to me at the US Open almost happened to Tsitsipas. He was lucky because he didn’t hit anyone directly in the crowd, although the ball did hit the wall.

It was after that that it hit someone in the crowd because he hit the ball really hard,” Djokovic explained. “I’ve had that situation in the past, and I know how bad it can be. be frustrating on the court.

On the other hand, I’m always ashamed and sorry when I make a mistake like this, and then I apologize to everyone because I know that kind of behavior is not appropriate.

I hope that Tsitsipas himself realizes that it was a mistake, that he was very lucky, and that he knows he risked hurting someone and being disqualified from the game.” added Djokovic.

Tsitsipas was totally frustrated with Kyrgios’ behavior during their game. Tennis analysts all agreed that the Greek fell for the Aussie’s trap, allowing him inside his head.
