Not an Oviedista without his season ticket: “People are very happy”

Enthusiasm in Oviedism with the season ticket campaign for the 2022-2023 campaign that will start on Monday, August 15 with the view of Bolo against Andorra de Piqué (5:30 p.m.). More than six thousand blue fans have already renewed their card for the new season in just eight days. The landing of the Pachuca Group, the inclusion of measures such as the loyalty discount, the adjustment of prices according to the sector or the promotion of a club subscription for the Naranco stand have fostered a higher-than-expected rate of loyalty

The exclusive subscription renewal period will last until August 9, the date from which new subscribers can be registered. LA NUEVA ESPAÑA went to Carlos Tartiere to feel first-hand the state of enthusiasm of Oviedismo.

Numerous fans emphasize when withdrawing their card in the facilities arranged by the club in this subscriber campaign. Few cases are as representative as that of Carolina González and her husband, José Manuel Martínez. The marriage, whose two young daughters are also blue subscribers, links the renewal of their cards with the price adjustment proposed by the club. “We can continue to be partners thanks to the fact that this year is cheaper,” confesses Carolina, already a veteran Oviedista: this will be her twentieth paid season, for the 27 that her husband accumulates.

El Tartiere witnessed some of Mari Feli López’s first dates with Roberto Barreiro. Twenty years later, they continue to keep the flame of Oviedism alive. “We started to come as boyfriends, look how we have changed… and the team,” says Mari Feli with a nostalgic touch. Roberto is sure that the discounts “encourage people to subscribe.” The couple shows a predilection for strikers: he likes Sergi Enrich and she likes Borja Bastón.

Marcos Sánchez has been a Real Oviedo subscriber for 25 years. This 50-year-old commercial boasts of not having abandoned the team in the fallow days. “Of course I went through the hard years!” he assures proudly. Marcos, a seasoned Oviedista, judges the season ticket campaign proposed by the club knowingly: “It’s one of the best in years, and it shows: people are very happy.”

José Luis Arias is one of the beneficiaries of the family subscription. He goes to the Tartiere offices with his wife, Martina Casanova; his mother-in-law, Juana Villa; and his daughter, Eve. José Luis is going to fulfill his particular silver anniversary with Oviedo: he celebrates 25 years as a member this season. “I really like this subscriber campaign,” says this 47-year-old metallurgist. José Luis bases his praise on price discrimination according to the sector of the chosen field: “It’s logical.”

The third generation of Oviedistas pulls on proverbs to contain the euphoria: “You can’t eat the gocho before hunting it,” answers Basilio Díaz, a 73-year-old retiree, when asked about his expectations for the new season.

Manuel Álvarez and Irene Cándano, 71 and 66 years old respectively, exude optimism. Especially Irene, convinced of the successes that await Oviedo: “We’re going to go up to First Division!”. The enthusiasm of her Manuel has a nickname and glasses: Bolo. “The new coach plays attacking and I like that a lot.”

Manuel Antonio García, at 76 years old, has been a member without interruption since 2008, although he was already a member when he was a child. His obsession is for the Tartiere to be a cauldron: “I’m blue, and we blues have to meet at the stadium”, affirms this retired man, who says “enjoy like a child” with his “Oviedín”. For his part, Marcos Rodríguez, like a good part of those surveyed, is excited about the arrival of the Pachuca Group: “They are going to professionalize the club and give us the last little push to go further.”

Borja Sánchez, the apple of the eyes of Oviedo

The blue fans are also excited, in addition to Pachuca and the improvements in subscription conditions, for the continuity of Borja Sánchez. The Oviedismo drinks the winds by the canterano, and he appreciates that he rejected offers of First Division to continue in the Tartiere.

David Rodríguez goes to renew his season ticket with his six-year-old son David. “I saw Borja before renewing, and I told him he had to stay. He told me he was working on it… and he didn’t lie to me,” he recounts with a smile.

José Luis Arias, in his twenty-fifth season as a partner, shares David’s enthusiasm for the midfielder. “The renewal of Borja is what has made me the happiest of the summer!” exclaims this 47-year-old Sierense enthusiast.

However, the adoration for Borja is not unanimous. Nicolás López, a subscriber since 2002, is the discordant voice. “I didn’t want Borja to continue,” he crudely exposes: “It’s very intermittent.”
