No one is left out of the Pacific project

Rarely the clubsboth at the regional and national levels, they manage to establish and strengthen a basketball project that they consider in the same way to the smallest, women and men in an integral way.

Since a year ago, With the arrival of Maximiliano Rubio in command of the discipline, Pacífico de Neuquén tries to lay the foundations of a search for collective evolution.

After several seasons in which he was competitive in the now called Federal Basketball League, in the last 12 months the Dean bet heavily on the growth of the feminine and the results supported him.

The incursion of the aurinegro in the Women’s Federal League meant an important shake for the club. The great performance of the girls, who became the first team from the interior of the country to reach a final, increased expectations and makes us look at the future with good eyes.

The great contest of the girls allowed the cast of the capital to earn a place in the National Women’s League (highest category at the national level).

With Rubio’s arrival, Pacific stopped treating the masculine and the feminine as if they were two different disciplines, with a comprehensive project that seeks growth in every way.

“My search, since I arrived last year at Deca, it goes that way. I like to work thinking that the club is one. When arrive everything was dissociated the mini was on one side, the male training on the other, the female had another importance and the first male had another interference. That way you don’t get anywhere. We are looking for a way to generate identity,” Rubio explained. a Black river.

Coach joined the Dean on May 1 of last year and since then coordinates all basketball in the club.

“We are advancing step by step, but this one that is coming is going to be a big one. To be honest, it scares me a bit, but playing in the National League would allow us to be the first club in Patagonia to do so.. So for a neighborhood club like us being at the level of those teams would be a tremendous step”, he commented Cipolletti’s former coach.

The Pre-Federal team will begin training next Monday.

“In all categories and branches, if we are going to play we want to compete. The idea is not to go in and play, see what happens and lose every game by 50 points. We really want to play the League. That will coincide with the Pre-Federal and the Federal men’sIt will be complicated but we are already working to be able to do it”, he added.

The professional structure will split in two, since there will be two teams competing at the national level and surely the coaching staff will have to unfold.

Beyond the logistical problems that it can bring, in Pacific they trust to achieve it: “It will be a big change, very positive. It will not be easy to get where we’re going, but it’s going to be more work and it’s going to be more intense than this first part of the year”.

Since his arrival at the club, Rubio bet heavily on giving greater importance to the feminine and achieved a historical fact.

“In the ’90s I played basketball at Pacífico and at that time it was already known for its women. When arrive we were having a bad time because of few girls. that’s why first we decided to reinforce from the mini-basketball that took advantage of the boost we gave it from above with the participation in the Federalwhich undoubtedly generated the ‘contagion effect’”, the coach added.

So, Pacific already has double the number of girls in its training and they dream of increasing the number with participation in the League.

Looking ahead to what’s to come, Rubio knows it won’t be easy but he has faith in being able to achieve great things with Deca but they will have to work hard.

“Are many coaches and we are very involved. Although I am the visible head, we all contribute much. A crazy semester is coming to us, very intense. We have the pre-federal, already with the armed team that starts training on Monday. In all categories we want to be competitive and we are also already working in the National League. Now we have to put together the coaching staff and then jump onto the pitch”, he concluded.

Pacific bets big, leaves no one out and seeks that its integral project advances steadily. Of course the results, as always in sport, will be decisive.
