Niko Sherazadishvili paves the way to Paris

Without making much noise but with a lot of work behind him, Niko Sherazadishvili continues in a state of grace, reaping great results in 2022. After winning the gold medal at the Mediterranean Games in Oran, the Spanish judoka won the bronze medal at the Budapest Grand Slam in his first season of his weight rise to -100 kg. After a great day, the 26-year-old from Madrid, born in Georgia, fell in the semifinals against the Japanese Lida as a result of an early ippon but was able to recover in the fight for third place and managed to beat the Swiss Eich to thus hang himself the medal of bronze.

In this way, Sherazadishvili could not have made a better start to her journey to the 2024 Paris Olympics, since it was the first qualifying tournament. Niko, fully adapted to the change of modality to -100 kg (before he competed in -90 kg), has already won the bronze medal at the European Championships held last May in Sofia, where he won the combat final to the Dutch Simeon Catharina.

Thus, the Spanish judoka continues to progress by leaps and bounds and, after winning gold in Oran just a week ago where he beat the Algerian Mustafá Yasser Bouama, he has achieved a new metal that could be decisive in paving the way towards his next objective that is marked in red on the calendar: the Olympic Games in Paris.
