NBA star Ja Morant tips waitress generously – her reaction is priceless!

Miami (USA) – A waitress at a Miami, Florida-area restaurant didn’t realize she was serving NBA star Ja Morant, 22. After the American basketball player, who has been under contract with the Memphis Grizzlies since 2019, gave her a $500 tip, she wanted to know more about the generous man.

Morant can afford such a large tip. Last week, the 22-year-old signed a five-year contract extension with the Grizzlies for $193 million.

During the event, a videographer who works a lot with the athlete kept the camera rolling. Some of the captured footage featured in the third episode of Morant’s new YouTube documentary is currently going viral. And for a good reason! Because it’s authentic, touching and the reaction of the waitress is totally funny.

At first the unsuspecting woman was speechless. Looking at the bill, seemingly confused, Morant asked if she read the tip correctly. This sparked a conversation between the two. The woman now wanted to find out more about her guest.

After joking to the waitress that he was the “Black Jesus”, Morant relented and acknowledged that he plays basketball.

“Can you play in the NBA?” the waitress asked. “I’m already in the NBA,” replied the 1.91 meter tall giant.

When he revealed he was playing for the Grizzlies, the waitress gaped. Meanwhile, one of Morant’s friends joked that the Grizzlies are her new favorite team. But the woman still couldn’t remember Morant’s name.

Finally she got down to business and asked “What’s your name?” Then she mimicked one of his usual hairstyles with her hands to see if it was really him – and Morant confirmed her suspicions.

The waitress gasped, covered her mouth with her hand and ran away from the table in glee.

In addition to the waitress’ reaction, another scene caught users’ attention: when Morant said he was the “Black Jesus” – a nickname associated with Michael Jordan (59). The basketball player played between 1984 and 2003 – with two interruptions – in the US professional league NBA, including 13 years with the Chicago Bulls and later with the Washington Wizards.
