NBA investigation into Harden’s contract extension in Philadelphia

The Sixers guard initially waived the option to extend his contract for one season, which would have guaranteed him a salary of 47 million dollars (46 M EUR) in 2022-2023 .

Salary reduction

He then extended for two seasons, until 2024, for a total amount of 68.6 million dollars (67.2 M EUR) by therefore accepting a significant reduction in salary, which is authorized, in order to allow Philadelphia to sign two players, PJ Tucker and Danuel House.

Harden, crowned NBA MVP in 2018 and one of the top scorers in activity, joined Philadelphia last February as part of a trade with the Brooklyn Nets, his team since 2021, who received from his Ben Simmons side.
